I just watched Tim's video at Pickuptrucktalk on oil released 10/3/25 called "New GF-7 Oil Coming to Fix Known Engine Flaw? Bet You Don't Know About It." I used to really like his videos, but now I think he's weighing in on topics just to be controversial. I personally like Tim and have interacted with him a lot in his forum and private messages, but this video made me cringe. Videos like this do nothing to educate people. I've learned quite a bit from Motor Oil Geek on real oil data and testing. I've also come to really appreciate the videos from Car Guy and Nate on the transmission problems. Tim also seems to think planned obsolescence isn't a thing. That's the most head in the sand point of view I've seen in a while. It really frustrates me when this type of information is being put out by "journalists" that is contrary to reality. Hopefully more reality based information gets put out about how crappy these expensive vehicles are nowadays. If people don't push back against the automakers, and other businesses building junk for consumers, then we will be forced to deal with junk for the rest of our lives.

I think Tim must be struggling a bit, he has talked about it quite a bit how youtube isn't going well for him and others. His denial of planned obsolescence tells you everything you need to know. Even former GM employees admit they do it...but not Tim.

I could not finish that video on GF-7. I will watch the motor oil geek test things regarding oil but that's about it anymore. His title "coming to fix known engine flaw" is pretty bad. You don't fix engine flaws with oil, you just prolong the inevitable.

0W 20 has been around since 2007ish I think. Many many older Honda/Toyota engines running even up to 1,000,000 miles on it without crazy additives, yet many modern vehicles with "better oil" can't hit 100k. It's pretty sad.

Thanks for sharing as I think I glossed over the thumbnail initially :).
