Hello car enthusiasts, and hello car guy, I was wondering if purchasing the Jeep 392 would be a good buy for 2026

What specifically are you looking at? That engine has been fairly reliable from what I have read, haven't owned one.

I have friends with Gladiators and they have been very reliable other than the oil cooler issue on the 3.6 Pentastar.

Bought a new 2026 Silverado 2500 crew cab on 2/28/26. Dealership had it in a "courtesy program", not sure what that entails other than its in the program for 10 days or until they put 250 miles on it. I asked them before they started putting miles on that I would prefer it with the 7 miles it already had and would purchase the vehicle that day as we already did the bargaining and I had a proposal from the dealer outlining the financial details. I paid cash after my trade in. So, I picked up the vehicle after driving 107 miles from my home to get there. After completing the paperwork, I left and they were about to close. About 6 miles from the dealership, I was approaching a red light and slowed down, then it turned green while I was still moving and pressed the accelerator. Immediately after doing so the truck hesitated and then banged into gear. I was not really sure what had just occurred as it was dark by now and I thought I hit a pot hole or something left in the roadway. I get home and park the vehicle, a few days later I went on an errand and the same scenario occurred at a red light. Same hesitation then a BANG. Now I'm saying, what is going on here? I called the dealership in NH and was told to go to a local dealership for an investigation as to what's going on. I made an appointment and went this past Friday. When I get to the dealership I needed to go into reverse to go into the service area. I put the shifter in R and nothing. I put it into park the reverse, again, nothing. I go to tell the service person, he get's a tech out there and he try's the same thing I did. Then he puts it in park, shuts off the engine, waits about 30 seconds, restarts and puts it in reverse and it works. Another tech take it for a ride and or course nothing happens. He needs to email GM service to see what they will allow for a remedy. A few hours later I go back and they would allow a reprogramming of the trans control and some tweaking of a component in the trans. This will take place tomorrow, 3/16/26. Obviously a valve body issue but they have 3 shots at correction before NH lemon law kicks in as I already placed a call to the NH Attorney Generals office for advice, they returned my call the next day and stated to document everything for the complaint. This was a $70K stickered vehicle not a base model. My 6th GM pickup since 2002. So, for anyone contemplating a purchase, be forewarned as I has buyers remorse with 403 miles, 268 which were done before I took ownership. If I drove it 138 miles and experienced 3 issues, when the person/persons from the dealership putting on the 250 miles never experienced any issues or worse, reported them to those in charge and they looked the other way, VERY SUSPICIOUS. Needless to say, my reviews sent to me from GM and the dealership did not go the way they thought.
