I want to buy a truck. I am 6’3 and have two boys. I rented a 2026 Chevy Silverado but I park in many small parking garages and drive highways a lot. I want a double full size cab and don’t care about power too much. What should I buy? I have a 2022 Forester which I love, but I really want to buy a truck and give the Subaru to my wife

as far as reliability is concerned, about the only GM engine I would consider might be the 2.7L right now (turbomax), though GM transmissions tend to be more problematic down the road.

Fords 2.7L/3.5L are pretty reliable, their 10 speeds are decent but have some issues...however Ford seems to be able to service them faster than GM.

Ram has pretty good track record with the hurricane and ZF transmission. The Hemi is very old school but can be pretty reliable as well, just not as powerful.

Toyota you can consider but they do have the potential engine woes. I found other things I didn't like in the Toyota like the slope/rake on the windshield cuts in to vision for taller drivers.

I would go drive them all, see if you can take the boys with you and see what you think. Not sure how old your boys are but they grow fast so....plan on them being over 6' tall riding in the back some day too 😃.
