Hello all. I agree with not buying new junk cars but it is getting very difficult to find parts that aren't bad out of the box or fails within two days. It is also getting difficult to even find parts for older vehicles. I think most of the aftermarket parts are the same part manufactured by the same junk company that are put in a different brand box. For all I know Junkman supplies O'Reillys,Napa, AutoZone, advance etc all of their parts. I'm starting to question the quality of one dealer parts. They certainly don't have a good warranty. What do you think? I've been working on cars almost fifty years. I started young. I am 59.

I agree it has been getting worse across the board. I can remember back in the 2005-2010 era, I could by AC Delco professional rotors for brakes and they were top notch, even through online vendors. Now, you can hardly find any "good steel" for aftermarket rotors. You are right, many dealerships if they are out of parts or servicing old vehicles often use autozone or other local vendors too. I do think the factory parts tend to be a bit better, off the assembly line for certain items, but they are starting to cheap out on those as well. It probably won't get better any time soon.
Regarding finding parts for old vehicles, that will probably get harder as well, and a big reason why junkyard prices have gone up so much in the past several years.
